Guidelines
Classes are taught and roleplayed in-character, so as class facilitators, we require that professors have roleplay experience, whether that be in virtual worlds or forums or elsewhere. Hogwarts Forever tends toward a rapid-fire, short post roleplay style.
The aim of professors will be to engage players and keep them involved. Some ways to do this are to ask a lot of questions, have demonstrations in which students are participants and not just watching, and to take students on short exploratory trips.
You will be responsible for announcing your own classes in group, and making them appealing to players. It is fine to have several professors on the same subject. Professors hired before December 31st will earn a stipend.
Professors may teach classes as often as they like, but we ask that you teach at least one class a month.
Classes
Possible magic classes: Transfiguration, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Potions, Arithmancy, History of Magic, Divination, Spellcraft (writing spells), Dueling, Flying, Astronomy, Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, special topics like Apparition
Possible additional classes: Choir, any languages, writing, Muggle Studies, ancient history, art. Consideration can be made for any academic class that might be of interest to a Hogwarts student.
Homework
We recommend against written essay-style homework, as essays do very little to promote interaction. Instead, think of homework as a way to create more roleplay opportunities for players.
For example, challenge players to additional group roleplay times, whether they are exploring, discussing and debating, or participating in a special event such as a dueling contest.
Another possibility is creative projects, such as art, building, and creative writing. Keep type of projects open and let players use whatever creative skills they have. These can be shared with the next class to create discussion and interaction.
