December Events Based on the results of our poll, I've updated the schedule for December! There's some new things added, as well as the classes already offered. See the new schedule by clicking events at the top, or this link: Events. You may have to click forward a month to see December. Google Calendar also lets you add the calender to your own at the link in the bottom right corner. Paid Professor Positions Available Until December 31st, we are offering new professors a $200KC per class stipend. The stipend will continue after the new year, but may not be offered to professors after that time. Professors teach in-character, and may teach any class that would make sense in a Hogwarts setting, such as Potions, Transfiguration, Charms, and even music, art, or languages. Roleplay experience is required. You may teach at most one class per week, and at least one class per month. We have developed a professor guide to give players more information about roleplaying a professor and leading classes. If you are interested, please fill out an application. Please help me out by filling out a survey on the best times for RP!
It's quick and painless, I promise! https://goo.gl/forms/inMEduPBUcyRqhlm2 We've added a bunch of new events! Currently we are offering Charms and flying lessons on a regular basis, along with some open RP times. Flying classes will include basic Quidditch lessons. More classes are in the process of being added, so make sure you watch the calendar for updates.
Starting in November, we will have Hogsmeade weekend the second Friday of the month, continuing through the weekend. We also will be offering roleplay classes, alternating beginning and advanced roleplay classes each month. See our calendar on the Events page! Hogwarts students without special abilities do not require an application, so come a little early to get a uniform and jump right in! We had a marvelous article about us in Virtual Outworlding. I'm glad everyone came and enjoyed their visit.
Read it! 2016 WRITE: HG: Hogwarts Forever: Roleplay in virtual worlds is writing in draft. Does writing create magic? We've had a surprising amount of players brand new to Opensim or SL worlds, which is wonderful! Many of them had trouble getting started with basic actions, so our land point is now at a Welcome Center. Players who are familiar with virtual worlds and viewers can teleport down immediately to start the journey to Hogwarts quest. Those who are brand new can walk through a tutorial where they learn to walk, open boxes, change their avatars, interact with NPCs, and teleport. I have plans to add an optional section on using chat and roleplay etiquette. Many of our new players stated they had roleplay experience, and were just unfamiliar with the software. Even if you are not new, you might find some of the premade avatars in the tutorial useful. Greetings all! We've been busy the past few weeks with a number of things, taking this amazing build into something that really hasn't been done in SL or opensim before. Quests I have put together a starting quest that starts from "your house" and goes through the same journey Harry took his first time to Hogwarts. You visit the Leaky Cauldron, Diagon Alley, Kings Cross Station, Hogsmeade, and finally Hogwarts. Many NPCs around the sim are clickable, and more quests will be added in the coming months. The starting quest ends at the Great Hall, and I've put in an interactive sorting, just like in the books. Touch the hat, say your house in local chat, and you will be sorted aloud. The starting point is in Little Whinging, inside the house with all the owls. There is also a short quest from Hermione in Diagon Alley, with a prize at the end. Schedules We're going to start a loose RP night on Friday nights from 2 to 3:30pm SLT. As we gather our playerbase, this time is likely to change. Those wishing to teach classes may go ahead and fill out job applications, so we can get in contact with you and put you on a schedule. Classes can be taught anywhere from weekly to once a month. You may also add pickup classes as desired. World Changes Houses added in Hogsmeade, London, and Little Whinging. No cost to rent. I may add a cost for the London brownstones in the future, but if you rent before then, it will continue to be free. The Hogwarts Express is now ridable, though it's not animated to my liking yet. Will keep working on that. Lots of shops available in Hogsmeade and London, both for merchants and for RP shops. I can help you decorate a RP shop, if you would like one. The Three Broomsticks could use a proprietor. In London, I'd like a realtor with links to open houses, as well as a travel agent with hypergrid-location posters. Uniforms I've updated the uniforms a bit in the starting area, as well as adding some new free and full perms mesh uniforms in a London shop next to the Leaky Cauldron. The starting quest takes players right past that shop. You are welcome to develop textures for the mesh uniforms and sell the pieces or donate the textures full perms. I have landmarks to a number of these kits, if you are interested. News From The Admins Roswenthe is currently in the process of moving, and may be homeless for a few weeks, so her schedule may be a bit odd the next few months. Ways You Can Help I am looking for a few people to help me develop quests. No SL or opensim experience is required, but I would like people who have some roleplay experience. The process will be pretty easy, and I'll be teaching this team how to set up NPCs and edit their scripts. I'm also looking for a merchant relations director. You do need some experience as a SL or opensim merchant. Shops are free to rent, so your job will mainly be to drop notecards to people with useful items to our world. We are joining some topsites in the next few weeks to give us some exposure. Please click the buttons when you think of it. I think most can be voted on daily, but that might not be true for all of them. Bring your friends and tell people about us! Thanks, Roswenthe Our build is up and it's gorgeous! Come check it out, even if you just want to wander around a bit.
We have Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, London, and Little Whinging. We are working on a Quidditch pitch. We have a build for it, but it doesn't quite fit anywhere on ground level yet. Uniforms and some basic avatars are available at the land point in Hogsmeade. You can visit us at our Kitely page: https://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Roswenthe-Blackwell/Hogwarts-Forever You can also visit us through Opensim World, which shows how many people are on sim at the moment: http://opensimworld.com/hop/75432-Hogwarts-Forever There is a HUD available for the Opensim World website. Click on the kiosk at the land point for more information. |
